The 15th Annual African American Parade

This year’s African American Parade, sponsored and presented by the Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union, was held on Saturday morning, August 24. The parade, as is the custom, started at Dorr and Smead Streets, next to the TUFCU building, headed towards Collingwood Ave, turning onto City Park before winding down.

Schools, businesses, elected officials, candidates for public office, community organizations, cars and even horses joined the parade, the 15th annual event in the heart of the city. The parade, which is usually a major component of the African American Festival, had originally been scheduled for July 20, during the Festival itself, but was postponed due to the heat wave ( a heat wave that would make July 2019 the hottest month in the world in recorded history).

Parade participants and watchers were much more fortunate last weekend as temperatures were pleasant, skies were clear and there was no rain.
