The Blade’s Inconsistency
Here’s the our response to the most
recent controversy regarding the Blade’s inconsistency with
the hiring of Mr. Ted Nugent as lead performer for the 2014
Rib-off and the Blade’s commitment to partner with those
who believe in the values of “ Changing
Lives & Changing Minds” forums on race. To The
Blade you can’t have it both ways. Either you are with a
Compassionate Toledo Movement or you are not.
Having shared all of the
aforementioned disappointments, we applaud the work of the
local NAACP and its President Ray Wood, the TCC, and the
participating partners of the Compassionate Community of
Northwestern Ohio. It remains unfortunate that The Blade
has continued to stall in efforts to issue an apology to the
offended community as promised in a more timely fashion.
To Mr. Nugent, we respect your 1st
Amendment rights as you should respect ours and suggest you
follow your own words in your new album “Shut Up & Jam.”
In closing we leave with these words
from the Holy Scripture, Zechariah 7:9—“Thus says the
Lord of hosts: Render true judgments, show kindness and
mercy to one another.”
