Toledo Native 'Kid of Pop' Featured in HBO Documentary

There is a rising star out
of Toledo known as the “Kid of Pop” that is shining brighter
as he is featured in a new documentary currently premiering
on HBO. This documentary, The Apollo, highlights the rich
history of the world-famous Apollo Theater, and how over
many decades they have united people from all walks of life
through the medium of music and entertainment.

The Apollo Theater is
internationally renowned for having influenced American and
pop culture in a major way, providing and outlet for new
talent to be seen and heard. That famed stage served as a
springboard for many legendary artists including: Ella
Fitzgerald, The Jackson 5, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, The
Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, Dave Chappelle, Jimi
Hendrix, and so many others...including Toledo's star the
Kid of Pop!
Ziynne also known as the Kid
of Pop is in this documentary along with a star-studded cast
including: Jamie Foxx, Pharrell Williams, Patti LaBelle,
Smokey Robinson, and Ta-Nehisi Coates. The Kid of Pop makes
several appearances in the film, one of which being on that
famed stage!
'The Apollo' documentary is
directed by Academy Award winning and Tribeca alumnus Roger
Ross Williams and is produced by White Horse Pictures.
'The Apollo' covers the
legacy of the world-famous theater and includes a production
of Ta-Nehisi Coates' 'Between the World and Me.' This
documentary does and excellent job weaving current issues
that African Americans face today with the many achievements
that we have made. The Apollo Theater has stood throughout
many trials and tribulations, and yet, it still remains in
Harlem as a vibrant beacon of hope. It is with that same
hopeful message that Ziynne – Kid of Pop continues to
inspire so many as he is a testament that dreams do come
true!
The Kid of Pop has
accomplished so much at such a young age. From performing
with the legendary Jacksons, brothers of the iconic Michael
Jackson...to touring across the United States with many of
the biggest stars in entertainment...his future is truly
bright! When not on the road or on stage, the Kid of Pop can
be found inschool taking Advanced Placement Honors classes
and maintaining a 4.0GPA while serving on Student Council
and playing athletics.
