Escuela SMART Academy Hosts
Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening Celebration*
Escuela SMART Academy,
formerly Toledo SMART Academy will hosts its ribbon
cutting and community
celebration, Tuesday, August 13, from 11am. 1 p.m.
Escuela SMART Academy is an
elementary school that offers a challenging
individual learning path
filled with academic growth and character
development within a Spanish
- English, bilingual curriculum format. There
will be a formal program
from 11am- 11:20 a.m. with a community celebration
to follow.
Hawkins Elementary launches
at TPS newest STEM school!
Hawkins Elementary will now
be Hawkins STEM Academy. To celebrate the
transition, you are invited
to Join Dr. Romules Durant, Superintendent/ CEO
of Toledo Public Schools for
a special Open House.
The event will feature
several community organizations that will set up
tables such as: Toledo
Lucas County Public Library, The Boy Scouts of
America, Girl Scouts of
Western Ohio, The Toledo Zoo and Aquarium and
more. In addition, there
will be an ice cream truck and food trucks to
welcome the families of
Hawkins STEMM Academy.

Community Welcome Events
This year, community welcome
celebration events will be held at the
following schools:
August 16
7:00 a.m. Martin Luther King
Academy, Men of Distinction,* welcome event
and reception.
7:30 a.m. Escuela SMART
Academy*, Community Welcome
8:30 a.m*. *Ella P. Stewart
Academy Pride from Bows to Toes,* a
collection drive for new and
gently used shoes along with hair bows for the
young ladies of the Academy.
