Local 500’s
Christmas Party
Special to The Truth
On Friday, December 19, 2014,
LIUNA Laborers’ Local 500 celebrated the holidays and their
membership with a Christmas Party with maximum capacity at
Gesu’s Sullivan Center. Local 500 stands on the
principle of giving all year long and has donated to many
worthwhile organizations. The leader and business manager of
this organization, David Fleetwood, acknowledges the highs
and lows of the construction industry but takes every
opportunity to let his membership know that they are
appreciated.
One way is in this now greatly anticipated Annual Christmas
Party. The membership, their guests and several local
dignitaries were treated to a spectacular soul food style
buffet including carving stations and wonderful desserts by
Chef Marla, music by an extraordinary band The Jamm, DJ
Impress playing great dance music between sets, and of
course an array of holiday spirits.

This year, David Fleetwood, on behalf of the membership
introduced their “Distinguished Lifetime Service Award” to
honor someone who has been a proven leader in the community
and is also considered a friend of Local 500. This
inaugural award was given to Jack Ford who has been
successful not only as Toledo city councilman, Ohio State
representative and mayor of Toledo, but also as someone who
lives every day of his personal life showing us all what it
means to serve others.
Local 500 wishes everyone a safe and prosperous new year! |
