Battle Kings Basket Ball –
“We Work Hard!”

By Carla Yvette

The Battle Kings Basketball Camp was held October 25 at St. Francis de Sales High School.  Founders Jimmy King, graduate of Rogers High School where he played basketball for four years and Christian Battle, a varsity point guard for three years and graduate of Start High School, started the camp on the premise that children should be given the opportunity to develop the skills that will help them become better prepared to compete when trying out for basketball teams.

Said King, “We started Battle Kings four years ago to give area kids an opportunity to learn and practice the fundamentals of basketball and to offer specialized training.”

King, an Ohio high school basketball official with over 25 years coaching experience, along with Battle, St. Francis freshman basketball coach, focused on ball handling, shooting, foot work and basketball terms and taught on the importance of stretching and conditioning.

King said he hopes the skills learned at their camp such as follow through, balance, goals and positioning will be applied in the youth’s everyday life.

The camp is open to boys and girls ages seven to 14.  Battle Kings also have several AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) teams that play during the summer.
