Girl Scouts Host “Keepin’ It Real”
Last weekend, Girl Scouts of Western Ohio hosted “Keepin’ It
Real,”a youth conference for girls in grades six-12. Topics
were chosen by girls and reflected subjects of interest and
critical issues facing teen girls today.
Workshops included career exploration, the outdoors, STEM,
healthy living, culinary, body image, physical activity,
travel, and more. The weekend event, held at Camp Libbey in
Defiance County, was designed specifically for older Girl
Scouts (Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors) and included an
overnight stay.

Girls also participated in games, hikes, a camp fire, and a
hand-crafted newspaper fashion show. Girl Scouts partnered
with a variety of local businesses and professionals to
develop and facilitate the workshops. It also gave the girls
a change to interact with women in careers they may be
interested in pursuing later in life.
