The Corbitt Family Gathers to Celebrate

By Tricia Hall

Sojourner’s Truth Reporter

Family reunions are defined as fellowship, good food and laughter. The immediate family, first cousins and other relatives of community leader Leola Haynes gathered for their reunion on Saturday, August 24, 2014. Five to six generations have gathered to fellowship since 1952. “We always come together, when people see us together, you can tell we’re family,” said Leola Haynes.

Over 150 children, grand-children, great-grandchildren, cousins, siblings and beyond filled the American Legion Hall located on Byrne to enjoy the festivities. Family members donated food for the occasion and cousin Tosha Easter was the DJ.

“As long as Leola continues to organize the reunions, I’ll keep coming to Toledo. I brought my son, two grandsons, my wife, and sister-in-law,” said Clover Holden, a family member.
