Honors Mothers on Mothers Day
By Rev. James H. Willis, Sr.
Special to The Truth
Sunday May 11, 2014, St.
Paul Missionary Baptist Church honored the mothers of the
church. The mothers shown in the picture are regular worship
attendees. This is the third presentation that has been
given to them.
Their ages range from 8o
years old to 100 years. The oldest active member is pictured
in the wheel chair third from the left, Mother Louise
Hairston, who is 100 years old. She attends church at least
three Sundays a month.
The church’s oldest member
is Mother Mary Townsell, who is 102 years and she is unable
to attend due to her health.
Each member received a
certificate that quotes Hebrew 11:1, “Now Faith is the
substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things
not seen.” It also states that the thanks being given
for their continued effort to advance the Kingdom of God is
evident of their faith.
These mothers have gone
beyond the call of duty in their efforts to attend worship
service and be the examples that Christ wants them to be. It
is the will of the Lord to give honor where honor is due,
said the church leaders.
The sharing of these
certificates brought joy to each one of them. The
certificates were presented with the assistance of the
ministers and the Young Adult Ministry of St. Paul. |
