Barbie Harrison Accepts Call to the Ministry
Special to The Truth
Harrison retired in December 2013 after 18 years providing
strong leadership to Big Brothers Big Sisters of
Northwestern Ohio.
In January 2013, she accepted her call to the ministry.
One year later, Harrison announced her ministry call with a
Statement of Faith to the members of Third Baptist Church.
In March 2014, Harrison attends Pathway to Ministry
Orientation at Winebrenner Theological Seminary and a
challenge was born - the launching of a seminary satellite
in Toledo! |

Harrison has taken on this task with an orientation held at
St. Luke's Hospital Auditorium on May 27, 6:30-8:30 pm
(dinner provided at no cost) to persons interested in
religious studies. If there is enough interest, classes can
start as early as this fall.
Harrison and her deacon husband have already begun a
complimentary Old Testament Survey class Tuesday, May 13,
2014 in Findlay, Ohio.
Reverend Barbie will preach her first sermon on June 8, 2014
at the 11:00 a.m. morning worship.
Immediately following worship, family and friends will
gather in Fellowship Hall to celebrate her Transition.
Prior to accepting and announcing her call to the ministry,
Harrison was one of the first women to be ordained as a
deacon at Third Baptist Church.
Harrison is excited as for many years she carried a brief
case and now she carries the Holy Bible, the Word of God in
her arms, heart and voice.
Everyone is invited to come and worship God as Harrison
preaches her inaugural sermon. |
