Glenn Stubblefield Way Unveiled at corner of Brown and Belmont.

Sojourner’s Truth Staff

About two dozen family members, neighborhood residents and friends of the late Glenn Stubblefield, along with City of Toledo leaders, gathered on Saturday, October 3, at the corner of Brown and Belmont to pay homage to the late community leader by dedicating and renaming the street corner for him.

“People miss the days when you could go to your neighbors and get results, the Stubblefield family was like that,” said Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz as the ceremony got underway.

“It was hard growing up over here,” said newly appointed District 4 Councilwoman Vanice Williams. “I definitely appreciate the family taking care of us.”

Glenn Stubblefield, and his wife, Joyce, lived in the inner-city black near Brown and Belmont and owned several other houses in the immediate area. For 17 years they also hosted the Collard Green Festival which drew hundreds of visitors to the annual summer event.

“I know my husband would be glad the city chose to honor him this way,” said Joyce Stubblefield just before a city employee arrived to assist the group in unveiling the new street sign.
