Letter to the Editor
Let’s go back to the “B
Movie” type of press conference, President Trump had several
months ago when he
proclaimed he was the “War President.” Then, shortly after
that President Trump agreed with the Chief of Naval
Operations and Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modley, that
Captain Brett Crozier was unfit to command the U.S.S.
Roosevelt.
Captain Crozier, made a
command decision that personified leadership, integrity and
courage by alerting his superiors to the members of his crew
testing positive to the coronavirus. He, asked “what he
could do for his country” (the 4,800 women and men under his
command.)
Subsequently, Acting Navy
Secretary Thomas Modley has resigned for
unauthorized flight to Guam
that cost us taxpayers $243,000. Thus, Commander-in-Chief
Trump must take
responsibility for this unauthorized action by Mr. Modley.
Therefore, Mr. Trump is no longer
interested in being the “War
President.”
Additionally, Mr. Trump
isn’t interested nor cognizant that the women
and men who are the crew of
the U.S.S. Roosevelt, are the first military members to
suffer from the
Post-Traumatic Coronavirus Stress Disorder.
We veterans have only to wait until the Congress convenes
to restore our coronavirus
hero, Captain Crozier, back to command of the
U.S.S. Roosevelt as one of
our first heroes in the War against the coronavirus.
Best regards,
Clarence Gafeney
