The block party is a community event that welcomes
residents, food vendors and local entertainers and presents
an opportunity to enjoy an outdoor event within the city
limits. The block party featured three primary entertainment
areas that featured performers throughout the night.
The Main Terrace area outside the museum featured local and
regional artists from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. including:
DJ Big Lou the Mayor, Moving in Stereo a Tribute to the
Cars, jazz vocalist Ramona Collins and Cirque Amongus
Performance.
The second entertainment area was located on Monroe Street.
A line of Jeeps was displayed on Monroe Street, each
featured different features, colors and were occupied by the
owner to answer specific questions. This was inspired by
Life is a Highway: Art and American Car Culture, the
current exhibition inside the museum.
The third entertainment area was located inside the Glass
Pavilion, where glassblowing demonstrations were held until
8:00pm.
“We’re here because we wanted some girl time, we also get a
chance to enjoy our city,” explained first time attendee
Latarsha Cook. “I’m excited to see Cirque Amongus and the
food trucks. I am excited to see the glass demonstrations
and blowing too,” shared Cook who was accompanied by her two
daughters, Manhattan Cook and Kylee McMillion.
In addition to those three featured entertainment areas,
guests could enjoy caricature artist Isaac Klunk, magician
Martin Jarret, stilts walkers and jugglers from Cirque
Amongus, Toledo School for the Arts Pageant Puppets, Bubble
Sharks, museum admission to Life Is a Highway: Art and
American Culture, kids games and open picnic areas.
Local food truck vendors were available to provide attendees
a variety of menu items for all age groups. Opa! Cuisine, P
& P Street Food (Nick and Nino), Rusty’s Road Trip, Snowie
Summer Shaved Ice, The Leaf and Seed Vegan Food Truck, Fat
Boyz by Al & Zoe, Pizza Cat, The Loaded Chicken, Deet’s BBQ,
Eric’s Ice Cream Factory, Jeanies Comfort Cuisine, S&T
Munchie Connections, Mustache Mike Italian Ice, Rosie’s
Rolling Chef, Jan’s Famous Chili Dogs, and K&K Concession.
“We’re excited to welcome different performers this year.
Each year this continues to grow larger and larger, with
more trucks, more people and more entertainment. We
appreciate the community’s support” explained Mike Brice,
the Toledo Museum of Art Public Relation Specialist. |
