Two Lourdes Faculty Appointed to City of Toledo Human
Relations Committee
Patrice McClellan and Shay
Bankston
Lourdes University is proud
to announce the appointment of two faculty members, Patrice
McClellan, PhD, and Shay Bankston, to the newly created City
of Toledo Human Relations Committee. Appointed by Toledo
City Mayor, Wade Kapszukiewicz, in their current roles,
McClellan and Bankston will work as colleagues to support a
safe, energetic and livable city and support residents
working to overcome prejudice and build mutual respect.
Shay Elletha Bankston
Chief Executive Officer and
Founder of Premier Consulting, a company that provides
behavioral health and community development services,
Bankston has worked as an adjunct instructor for Lourdes and
was recently appointed interim director of Social Work. She
has been instrumental in organizing a Teen Summit 4.0 event
at Lourdes featuring Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Stacy
Cook as the keynote speaker. "Not In Our Town" focuses on
youth taking a stand against gun violence and crime.

Shay Elletha Bankston |
The licensed independent social worker has served the region
and community in several capacities including Director of
Family Services of Northwest Ohio, Habilitation Coordinator
for the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities and
as a Home/Office Based Clinical Therapist at Unison
Behavioral Health Group. She earned a Bachelor of Social
Work degree from The University of Toledo, a Master of
Social Work from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of
Arts in Organizational Management from Spring Arbor
University. She is currently in the dissertation completion
phase of a Doctorate of Education in Educational Foundations
and Leadership Policy at Bowling Green State University. |
Patrice McClellan
Committed to serving the
community, McClellan is a member of the Paramount Healthcare
Board, chair of the United Way African American Leadership
Council (AALC) Joint Council and, until 2018, served as
co-chair of its Leadership Development Committee. Recently,
McClellan was selected as a "20 under 45" individual to
receive the 2019 Black Lives Matter Award by the Community
Solidarity Response Network.
The Lourdes associate
professor of Business & Leadership previously prepared some
of this region's brightest and most talented leaders as
Director of the University's Master of Organizational
Leadership program. A published author and respected
leadership expert, she earned a Bachelor of Business
Administration degree at The University of Toledo and Master
of Organizational Leadership and Doctor of Education in
Educational Administration & Leadership Studies degrees from
Bowling Green State University. McClellan has presented
across the country on a variety of subjects including race
and gender, leadership, social justice and superintendency.
In 2011, J.A. Alston and McClellan co-authored Herstories:
Leading with Lessons of the Lives of Black Women Activists.
