Groomed for Greatness Introduces Girls to Role Models
Special to The Truth
Groomed for Greatness is 5013C non-profit organization
dedicated to introducing girls in the Toledo and surrounding
area to positive female role models, providing them with the
tools to be successful in life and inspiring them to do
great things Founded on February 1, 2017 by Toledo native
Michelle McCaster, the organization serves girls ages
four-18 and is focused on providing etiquette training,
mentoring, self-esteem building, community service
opportunities, financial literacy and leadership skills.
On Saturday, April 8, Groomed for Greatness hosted it first
big event – appropriately titled, the Big Reveal Event – at
the Garden Lake Hall. Twenty-eight members of the group
attended along with about 175 family members and friends to
hear keynote speaker Diana Patton and listen to music
provided by DJ Keith Success.
Also in attendance were Council Members Larry Sykes, Cecelia
Adams, PhD; Yvonne Harper, Council candidate Gary Johnson
and Mayor Paula Hicks Hudson.
It is McCaster’s vision to be the mentor she wishes she had
when she was younger. Her objective is to provide the young
ladies she mentors to embrace who they are, to be leaders in
their community and become confident and self-sufficient.
To date, the organization has been involved in various
activities such as:
·
The Robert Easter Parade and 12th Annual
African-American Festival Parade
·
Attended Author-Author series with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
sponsored by the Lucas County Library (all attendees
received autographed books and met the author)
·
Volunteered at the Laurels of Toledo and spent time with
residents
