Domestic Violence Begins at
Home: A Candid Conversation
On
Thursday, October 22, Toledo City Councilman Tyrone Riley
will host a community forum at the Eleanor Kahle Senior
Center to discuss the issue of domestic violence, which
starts in the home.
October is
Domestic Violence Awarenes Month. Current statistics
indicate that one in four U.S. women will experience
domestic violence in their lifetime. Nearly three/fourths of
all Americans know someone who has experience domestic
violence.
Also
taking part in this candid discussion will be: Cary Brown,
assessment manager at Lucas County Children Services; Lynn
Jacquot, Ohio Domestic Violence Network; Jennifer Tucker,
Adult Program coordinator, Bethany House; Carol Smith, Ph.D,
Batterer Intervention Program and Augustine Abbott, domestic
violence advocate.
The
community forum starts at 6:00 p.m. and lasts until 8:00
p.m. All residents are invited and encouraged to attend.
