Receives $50,000 State Investment
Public-private partnership will assist local 3D printing
development

State Rep. Michael Ashford (D-Toledo) this week announced
$50,000 in state funds for the University of Toledo (UT)
Technology Validation and Start-Up Fund. The program
partners UT with local business start-ups to develop
technology for commercial use.
“Too many small business start-ups lack the resources they
need to see their ideas come to fruition,” said Rep.
Ashford. “UT’s Start-Up Fund bridges this gap and connects
entrepreneurs with the technologies that can take their
businesses to the next level. This public-private
partnership allows locally-owned start-ups to grow and
create good local jobs.”
The Technology Validation and Start-Up Fund was created by
Ohio colleges, universities and other research institutions
to introduce new technologies into the marketplace with the
help of entrepreneurs and local small business start-ups.
State funds released today will support the development of
3D printing technology used to create implants used in
repairing bones.
UT will provide $50,000 to match state funds.
