Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union Hosts a Special Community
Meeting

On Tuesday, April 24, the
Toledo Urban Federal Credit Union (TUFCU) held the first in
a series of Special Community Meetings at the Scott High
School gymnasium. The credit union was joined by several
dozen area agencies and companies that were present to
explain their services to members of the community. The free
event began at 6 p.m. and Rockey Love of 95.7 “Saturday
Morning Blues Show” served as the evening’s master of
ceremonies.
Love brought up the
various agency and company representatives to speak about
their services. Visitors were also able to stop by an
assortment of booths and receive detailed information. The
agencies and companies included: A-1 Bonds, The Ability
Center, ABLE, Area Office on Aging, Brothers United, Cherry
Street Mission, Toledo Department of Neighborhoods,
Connecting Kids to Meals, Fifth Third Bank, First Federal
Bank, Flowers Disability Law, Frederick Douglass Community
Association, Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, IRS
–VITA Program (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), Lucas
County Children Services, Lucas Metropolitan Housing
Authority, Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity, NAACP, the
National African American Wellness Walk, Neighbor Works
Toledo Region, Neighborhood Health Association, Toledo
elected officials, Toledo Fire Department, Toledo Health
Department, Toledo Public Schools, Urban Minority Alcoholism
& Drug Abuse Outreach Program (UMADAOP), Whittington Group
Realty and YMCA.
The TUFCU staff
anticipates holding four such meetings over a 12-month
period.
