UPCOMING COMMUNITY EVENTS

 

February 17, 2012 @ 11:45am - 12:30pm

 

The Black Heritage Library & Multicultural Center (BHL &MC) located at 817 Harmon Street, Findlay will be kicking off its 30th Anniversary Celebration and Grand Re-Opening! The Ribbon Cutting will be conducted by the Chamber's Red Coat Ambassadors at 11:45am. The amazing exhibit of the Red Tails - WWII Tuskegee Airman will be unveiled! The Center is the only Library and Museum in the world awarded the Smithsonian's "Black Wings" Exhibit featuring African American Aviators from WWII to the Space Shuttle Program! Come and see more exciting exhibits and our building improvements! Tour by Founder! Delectable appetizers and desserts! Check out the movies at your local theater and experience the exhibit!

 

Monetary donation will be graciously and thankfully accepted as well as offerings of multicultural art, artifacts, vintage clothing/jewelry for educational programming and multicultural books. Please call the BHL &MC at (419) 423-4954 for more information.

 

 

February 18, 2012 @ 10:30am - 6pm

 

The Black Heritage Library & Multicultural Center (BHL &MC) located at 817 Harmon Street, Findlay will be kicking off its 30th Anniversary Celebration and Grand Re-Opening with an Open House from 10:30am – 6pm. Guests will have the opportunity to view the amazing exhibit on the "Red Tails - WWII Tuskegee Airman! The BHL &MC is the only organization in the world awarded the Smithsonian's Black Wings Exhibit featuring African American Aviators from WWII to the Space Shuttle Program. Come and see more exciting new exhibits and building improvements! Tour by Founder! Meet the Board of Trustees! Light refreshments will be available throughout the event.

 

 

We will also be celebrating Black History Month on February 18th with a special program and presentation at 3pm with keynote speaker and honored guest, Dr. Howard Ward, Asst. Vice President of Student Affairs and Studies from Rochester Institute of Technology, New York. FREE EVENT but we will graciously and thankfully accept financial donations and offerings of multicultural art, artifacts, vintage clothing/jewelry for educational programming and multicultural books to benefit The Center.  Please call the BHL & MC at (419) 423-4954 for more information.

 

 

February 19, 2012 @ 1:30pm to 6pm

 

The Black Heritage Library & Multicultural Center in partnership with the Findlay City Schools will celebrate Black History Month with a multicultural cultural event themed "WE ARE ONE" featuring food sampling from Around the World! Multicultural dance, theatrical and musical performances! Cultural Exhibits! Featured Artists and special guests! Multicultural Storytelling! Games and activities for the children and more! $8.00 donation for adults and $3.00 for students. Free for children under 7 years of age. Your donation enables you to enjoy all of the afternoon's activities and events. A hand stamp or band will be provided for you to come and go throughout the afternoon. Sponsored by Time Warner Cable. February 24, 2012 @ 7:00pm - 11pm

 

Put on your dancin' shoes for the Black Heritage Library & Multicultural Center's 2nd Annual Movin' and Groovin' to the 50's, 60's, and 70's and 80's soul, disco, jazz and blues music for a Black History Month Celebration that you won't soon forget!! DJ and former radio celebrity SMOKIN' JOE BACON will be playing all your favorite hits! Soul Food will be served!

 

$10 donation per person for Fun and Food!!

 

 

February 25, 2012 @ 10:30am - 5pm

 

MOVIES Extravaganza! Celebrating National Black History Month with exciting and thought provoking movies for cultural enrichment and entertainment. The first movie begins at 10:30am and is appropriate for children. The second feature starts at 2pm and is rated PG and starts at 2pm. The third and last feature movie is rated PG and begins at 5:30pm. A guided and open discussion will be held following each movie. The second and third movies are particularly for mature audiences. Hot dogs, popcorn and beverages will be available. A love offering will be graciously and thankfully accepted to help cover the costs of the refreshments.

 

 

All donations benefit the Black Heritage Library & Multicultural Center.  If you are unable to attend our programs and events please consider a 30th Anniversary and/or a Black History Month tax deductible donation.  YOUR support helps our organization to continue its vital work to build the awareness, appreciation and understanding of cultural diversity!
