Special to The Truth

On Tuesday, March 9, 2010,  the Toledo Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., Jewel Chapter #20, O.E.S., Prince Hall Affiliated and the Toledo Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. joined in a partnership to provide clothing and non-perishable food items to support The Bridges program located at the Monroe Street Neighborhood Center.

The Bridges, an outreach of the Monroe Street Neighborhood Center, is committed to providing a helping hand to those in need struggling in these difficult economic times. Clara Petty is the executive director.

Every Wednesday, The Bridges, a cozy house behind the Monroe Methodist Church opens its doors to those seeking assistance.  When they leave, they have groceries, an assortment of clothing items, a blood-pressure check and an increased sense of pride.
