LCCS Celebrates Black History Month

Special to The Truth

Lucas County Children Services brought its Black History Month to a conclusion by sponsoring an art exhibition entitled, “Echoes in Motion." The show featured works by many talented artists, including Deborah Proe, Aaron S. Bivins and Jeremiah Peterson, some of whose works appear at The Truth Gallery. Others, including Keely Gray and Karla Davis-McGowan contributed works from their personal art collections.

“It’s important that we recognize the many talented African-American artists who live among us,“ said Marjorie Holt, Ph.D., LCCS Minority Affairs and Inclusion Coordinator, who organized the show. “They bring to life our vibrant culture and history, and allow us to share it with the broader community." Works included paintings, carvings, quilts and traditional African artifacts.

Agency employees also contributed a variety of ethnic dishes to a potluck luncheon held in conjunction with the show.
