Find Where the Wind Goes: Moments From My Life
offers young readers an insight into Dr. Jemison’s
remarkable life, from her announcement in kindergarten, in
1961, that she wanted “to be a scientist” to the realization
of her dream as “the first woman of color in the world to
travel into space.” Dr. Jemison, a chemical engineer,
scientist, physician, teacher and astronaut, was the
co-investigator on the bone cell research experiment flown
on her 1992 space mission. She logged 190 hours, 90 minutes,
and 23 seconds in space, making her the first African
American woman in space and NASA’s fifth black astronaut.
