Top Ladies Host Annual Prayer Breakfast

Special to The Truth

The Toledo Club of the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. celebrated its 25th Annual Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, January 23 in high style at Gladieux Meadows.

Ladies were beautifully clad in pink attire and their traditional orchid. Lady Mary McKinley Reed, first vice president, served as Prayer Breakfast chairman. Lady Clara Petty, second vice president, was the co-chairman.

Top Ladies President Lady Mary Dawson and Top Teens President Jillian Nobles welcomed the guests who also enjoyed a gracious praise dance by the “Black Diamond Angels.” Top Teen Opal Dunlap is a member of the dance troupe and also the Area V president presiding over the states of Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, West Virginia, Kentucky and western Pennsylvania.

Top Ladies, Top Teens and Lords filled the room as they and friends and guests celebrated the theme “Exercising Faith During Challenging Times.”

The event’s guest speaker was Yvonne Byrd Gayle who began her 35-year teaching career in Alabama. Life’s journey brought her to Toledo where she continued her love for and dedication to children by teaching in the Toledo Public School system. As a retired educator, her concern for children has not changed. She currently serves as a tutor in the Helping Hands Program.
